Basingstoke Football club History

Basingstoke Football Club was founded in 1896, joining the Hampshire football league in the year 1901. The club known as Basingstoke Town FC was derived with the coming together of two Basingstoke Football clubs namely the Hants Ironworks and the Town club. The club pitched up at the Camrose on Western Way in 1946 and has been there ever since.

The mid eighties saw Basingstoke FC without losing a game, winning the Southern League, Southern Division giving Basingstoke Town supporters something to shout about. Basingstoke Town Football Club experienced one of its least successful seasons in the 2006 season with regard to league positioning but made up for it by a great performance in the FA Cup. The club made it as far as the second round before being knocked out by Aldershot Town at the Basingstoke Camrose ground.

The Basingstoke Football Club now resides in a division of the Football Conference league, namely Conference South formed in 2004. For sponsorship reasons, the Conference South division is known as "Blue Square Bet South".
