Lottery scheme is a real winner in Basingstoke

IT COULD be you – that’s the message from a Basingstoke hospice which is encouraging people to take part in its lottery.

St Michael’s Hospice, in Aldermaston Road, is urging the local community to get behind the lottery to help fund its new Hospice at Home service.

Hospice at Home takes the nursing care associated with the hospice into the home environment, together with providing patients with out-of-hours access to palliative nursing care, support and advice.

Nurses and healthcare assistants will provide planned day and night-time care and support to patients and it is anticipated that from next month, an on-call out-of-hours service will be running to support patients and their carers during the night.

David Gibbins, chief executive of St. Michael’s Hospice, said: “The associated annual running costs of Hospice at Home is £200,000 and the service will be provided entirely free of charge to patients across the whole of north Hampshire.

“I really would encourage the local community to join the lottery. Not only will they be supporting such an excellent service they also have a chance of winning something in return.”

St Michael’s Hospice Lottery costs £2 per entry per week and the draw takes place every Friday. Each week, 20 lucky winners will share in the £1,250 prize fund that has a top prize of £1,000.

Every prize is guaranteed to be won and winners are automatically notified, with winning cheques sent directly to the individual so there is no need to claim the prizes.

To date there have been 780 lucky winners of St Michael's Hospice Lottery who have shared in almost £50,000 worth of prizes.

If you are interested in joining the lottery then contact 0870 0501677, pop into one of the hospice shops for an application form or download an application form from their website at stmichaelshospice.org.uk/lottery.

Alternatively, you can purchase a lottery ticket for one week’s entry into the draw in any of the seven hospice shops located in Alton, Brighton Hill, Chineham, Hook, Overton, South Ham and Tadley.
